Riise: Reds hero retires

Former Liverpool player John Arne Riise has retired from football aged 35.

The left-back, who was part of the 2005 Champions League-winning side, cancelled his contract with Aalesund in his homeland of Norway after 13 games following a return to the club where he started his career earlier this year.

Riise played 348 times for Liverpool between 2001-08, scoring 31 goals and as well as winning the Champions League in 2005, he was part of the FA Cup-winning side the following year.
