Clarence Seedorf and Luis Figo labelled Anfield ‘amazing’ after playing at Liverpool’s home ground for Real Madrid’s Legends side on Saturday.
Seedorf and Figo showed flashes of their old magic but could not prevent Madrid from going down to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Reds’ own Legends team, with Michael Owen, John Aldridge, Robbie Fowler and Steven Gerrard getting on the scoresheet for the hosts.
However, two of the most decorated footballers of their generation – who, between them, boast more than 200 international caps, 13 league titles and five Champions League winner’s medals – relished their opportunity to wow a sell-out crowd in L4.
“I absolutely enjoyed it from the first to the last minute,” four-time European Cup-winner Seedorf, who swapped shirts with Gerrard at full-time, said.
“The most important thing is to entertain people as much as we can. Seven goals and in the last minutes a bit of tension, it was all good.
“It’s a great cause and participating in these kind of games is fantastic. I’m not the first and I won’t be the last to say that Anfield is absolutely amazing.”
